This October, the Mitte Cultural District will transform into a vibrant tapestry of color, remembrance, and celebration with Fiesta De Vida—a Día de los Muertos–inspired gathering that invites the entire community to honor the past while embracing the beauty of the present.
Fiesta De Vida is more than an event—it’s an experience rooted in tradition, storytelling, and shared humanity. Drawing inspiration from Día de los Muertos, the celebration centers on the idea that those we’ve lost are never truly gone. Instead, they live on in memory, in ritual, and in the spaces we create to remember them.
A Living Celebration of Culture and Community
At the heart of Fiesta De Vida is the ofrenda, a traditional altar adorned with marigolds, candles, photographs, and offerings. Guests are invited to contribute their own remembrances—photos, notes, or small tokens—to collectively build a space that honors loved ones and celebrates their lives.

Fiesta de Vida Weekend Continues:
1-Mile Mariposa Family Run
The celebration of life continues Sunday morning at Market Square with the 1-Mile Mariposa Family Run, a family-friendly run and community gathering centered on remembrance, art, and the people we carry with us.
Market Square is home to artist Robert Mendoza’s Mariachis y Mariposas mural, unveiled in 2019. The mariposa—a symbol of transformation, remembrance, and continuing connection—provides a meaningful setting to close Fiesta de Vida weekend together as a community.
