Camille Playhouse

A historic community theater presenting live performances, educational programs, and opportunities for local artists to take the stage.

Founded in 1964, Camille Playhouse is one of the oldest and most respected community theaters in South Texas. Located adjacent to Dean Porter Park, the playhouse has entertained generations of audiences through musicals, dramas, comedies, youth productions, and educational theater programs. Named in honor of Camille Sams Lightner, the organization remains dedicated to cultivating local talent, inspiring future performers, and making live theater accessible to the community. As a cornerstone of Brownsville’s cultural landscape, Camille Playhouse continues to enrich the region through the performing arts.
