Historic Battle Trail and Southern Pacific Linear Park
In 1988 the old Southern Pacific switching yard was cleared to create the nine mile trail that follows the abandoned Southern Pacific Rail line from downtown Brownsville to the entrance of the Palo Alto Battlefield National Historic Site. A historic caboose and signage along the trail document historical events.
The Brownsville Farmer's market, located in the park, operates every Saturday from 9:00 am to 12:00, year round; shop for locally grown fresh produce at affordable prices along with other products such as honey, shrimp, fresh herbs, eggs and whole grain breads. Community and health organizations sponsor information tables as well as craft activities for children.
